Carrie was nominated by Becca Miner. Her entry reads:

"Our 6-year-old daughter Reese Miner was just diagnosed in late May with type one diabetes. It’s been a whirlwind. Our daughter is now on an insulin pump and a continuous glucose monitor that reads her sugar every 5 minutes. Our daughter is a new diabetic, so her sugars are all over the place - they are 300 one minute and 80 the next. Mrs. Davis and the Prairie nursing staff have been wonderful to work with. They’ve managed to come up with a plan that minimizes the amount of time of daughter is out of class. And if she has to miss class due to her sugars, Mrs. Davis has compiled school work she can complete in the nurse's office. Mrs. Davis is also just a wonderful teacher. Since August, our daughter can now complete chapter books. She sends us home with a lot of resources we can use to assist with teaching, as well. Mrs. Davis is kind, compassionate, and patient. We are so grateful to her! It was hard to know our daughter had to start school back up this year with her new reality, but Mrs. Davis has made the transition much easier! Our daughter doesn’t feel like she’s the different kid, she says she’s just like everyone else. Thank you, Mrs. Davis!"

For being such a great teacher, Carrie will receive gift cards to Half Price Books and Wild Hogs Saloon & Eatery.

If you know an amazing local teacher, nominate them to be our next 'Teacher of the Week' HERE!
