Eastern Iowans Encouraged to ‘Give Like Dolly’ Today

It is still strange to me that we now live in a world without Dolly Parton. Her larger-than-life persona and musical legacy are second to none. But above that was her giving spirit and her willingness to help anyone in need. Today is September 25th. And on this '9 to 5', the world is encouraged to 'Give Like Dolly'.

Celebrate 'Give Like Dolly' Day

One of Dolly Parton's greatest gifts to the world is her Imagination Library, which puts free books in the hands of children. KCRG reports that the Cedar Rapids Public Library, in partnership with the Dollywood Foundation, is encouraging residents in the Corridor to take part in 'Give Like Dolly' Day today. The Dollywood Foundation is starting a tradition of honoring Dolly by recognizing September 25th as 'Dolly Day', and here is how you can take part!

Make a Donation in Honor of Dolly Parton

KCRG reports that the Cedar Rapids Public Library Foundation is asking Eastern Iowans to make a donation to the Imagination Library on 'Dolly Day'. You can find the link to donate HERE.

You can choose to provide books to one child for a year, costing $31, or make a recurring donation, which will provide one book per month for that child through age five.

Other Cedar Rapids Businesses Celebrating Dolly

KCRG notes that other 'Dolly Day' partners in Cedar Rapids include Craft'd and Feedwell Kitchen and Bakery. A portion of purchases at these businesses today will also go towards Dolly's Imagination Library.

While Dolly might be gone, her giving spirit lives on. We need it now more than ever.
