Today Marks a Milestone for Courtlin

If you were listening to the morning show on KHAK a year ago today, you might remember a brief appearance from me!

November 10th will mark the one year anniversary of Brain & Courtlin in the Morning, but it won't mark the first time I was ever on the air with Brain. One year ago yesterday and today, I was in Cedar Rapids for the first time being interviewed to be Brain's co-host (It is also when I took that super cool picture above!). On the 14th I had hours and hours of sit-down interviews, and I also went to my very first Listener Lunch (it was at Wild Hogs). I had to lie about why I was there to the listeners, because I wasn't offered the job yet. And no, I didn't have any nachos!

Before I my flight back to Michigan on the morning of the 15th, I got to sit in the studio with Brain and see how everything worked here. That's when they decided to throw me on the air as part of a "test." I remember talking to Brain about how the city smelled like Crunch Berries, and he explained to me that some people call Cedar Rapids "The City of 5 Smells." That's when I asked what the other smells were, and Brain jokingly avoided answering. I have since learned of those other 5 smells, and 3 out of the 5 are NOT great!

I can't believe it's already been a year since this great adventure began, and I'm so grateful to everyone who has welcomed me with open arms, even if they were hesitant at first! I'll save all the sappiness for my one-year anniversary next month, but it's kind of insane to look back and think that this was the first day I knew my life was going to drastically change. And here I am, sitting in this same chair just one year later. Crazy how time flies!
