The Racing Season Comes to a Close This Weekend in Iowa
The 2016 racing season in Iowa comes to a close this weekend. Saturday, it's the "Shiverfest" at the Lee County Speedway in Donnellson, IA and most years it's just that. In years past, snow flurries have even fallen during the event. That won't be happening this year.
A practice is scheduled for tonight from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, six classes of racecars will be running. Late Models, Modifieds, Stock Cars, SportMods, Hobby Stocks, and 4 Cyl. Last year, they had over 160 cars entered!
It's a fun filled event for the entire family with hay rack rides from 3 to 4 p.m., trick-or-treating for the kids in the pit area sponsored by the drivers from 4 to 4:30 p.m., and box car racing from 4:30 to 5 p.m.
Hot laps start at 5 p.m with racing to follow.
