As you stretch into your 40's the aches and pains of life become more frequent. The knees creak and crack, and don't even get me started about my back. But a new pain has crept up in recent weeks. My elbow.

I"m not sure when it started, but the pain is in my left elbow. It hurts when I try and lift anything with that arm, or make a fist with that hand too. Some days are worse than others. It really doesn't get in the way of me doing anything, it's more of an annoyance at this point. So I did something I give Courtlin grief for doing all the time, I Googled my symptoms. What came up? Tennis Elbow. No, it has nothing to do with the sport, although people who play sports with rackets suffer from it too. A more simple term for what I'm suffering from is elbow tendinitis.

Basically, the tendons in my elbow have become inflamed from constant use. The most common group of people to be affected are adults between 30 and 50 years of age. And only 5% of cases actually involve tennis. I wasn't sure what might be causing my particular case until I read that any repetitive motion involving your hands and arm could cause it...including TYPING. We type here at the radio station ALL THE TIME. We write at least 10 blogs a week, added on to all the other computer work we do.

How do you fix it? Ice, rest, compression sleeves, and ibuprofen. Sometimes it can take months for a case of tennis elbow to go away. It's just another painful part of getting older!
