Another year has come and gone. As time flies by faster each year, I always think about something my father told me years ago. You don't realize how quickly time goes by until you watch your own children grow. There was never a better example of that than the events of 2025.

A New Family Member!

In February, we added a new family member. Barry, a German Shepherd mix that we rescued from Texas. He was not used to being around people and receiving love and affection. But months later, Barry has become a loving dog and is quickly becoming the new best friend I'd hoped for. He even loves his older brother, Rigby!

Both Daughters Are On the Road!

Carly got her full license this year, and Cayleigh completed driver's education and got her school permit. Yes, both girls are on the roads! Both girls have their own vehicles, and Cayleigh even got the convertible that she had always dreamed of having. Just don't ask how much I pay for car insurance.

The First Child to Leave the Nest

2025 also saw our first child leave home. After graduating from high school, Chase went to Kirkwood for two years. But this fall, he moved to Ames to attend Iowa State University. We all fell in love with the campus during a visit in May. And while tears were shed when he moved out in August, we are proud of his career choice and are happy to have a Cyclone in the family!

Nothing makes time fly by faster than watching your own children grow. Holly and I are blessed to have the family we do. We try and cherish every moment we have with them. I can't wait to see what milestones 2026 will bring!
