Support Alburnett High School’s Shoes4Success Fundraiser With a Pair of Shoes!
A few nights ago, we were celebrating my father-in-law’s birthday, and during the festivities, my wife’s nephew Trenton started talking about a fundraiser they’re doing at Alburnett High School. Turns out, things have changed a bit, and their fundraisers look a little different this year.
Trenton mentioned their goal is to collect 2,500 pairs of shoes, and I thought, "hey, I might know a way to help them out!" What if we all pitch in and help them smash that goal—maybe even make this fundraiser bigger and better than they ever imagined? Let's make it happen together!
The FBLA chapter at Alburnett High School is hosting a fundraiser to help cover the costs of attending the state FBLA competition. FBLA, or Future Business Leaders of America, provides students with the opportunity to compete in various events related to business, such as presentations, objective tests, and public speaking.
What is Different About the Fundraisers?
Trenton was telling me that, in the past, the FBLA chapter raised a lot of their funds by working at the Hawkeye concession stand, which helped cover most of their trip to nationals last year. But, there’s been a policy change, and now you have to be 18 to work with food. Since a lot of the chapter’s members are still too young to qualify, they had to get creative with this year’s fundraiser.

How Do You Overcome These Challenges?
So, what do you do? To overcome this challenge, the chapter has partnered with Funds2Orgs for a program called Shoes4Success. They're collecting gently used shoes that will be redistributed to people in need.
This not only helps others, but also raises funds for the chapter, with the goal of collecting 2,500 pairs of shoes to earn $1,000 for the state registration fees.
How Can You Help Alburnett High School's FBLA?
Anyone interested in donating shoes can drop them off at the Alburnett High School office (131 Roosevelt St, Alburnett, IA 52202). For donations of five or more pairs, donors can also email fbla@alburnettcsd.org to arrange a potential pick-up.
The deadline for donations is the end of February, but the chapter is excited to start gathering shoes as soon as possible.
Trenton also mentioned that this fundraiser is super important for covering the chapter's expenses and making sure they can attend the state competition. FBLA isn't just about competitions—it gives students incredible opportunities to build leadership skills and get ready for the future. It’s a big deal for everyone involved, and the support from the community could make all the difference!
