Rescheduled Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival Event is This Week

The Freedom FEASTival is making a comeback this week! The Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival event, originally scheduled for June, is happening this Thursday, August 20th.

What's the Freedom FEASTival?

Described as "the ultimate food lover’s experience," the Freedom FEASTival is one of the Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival's newer events. More than 10 local restaurants and food trucks will be set up around Greene Square Park in Downtown Cedar Rapids throughout the day, giving attendees the chance to try a wide variety of different foods and beverages. The event also features a stage with live entertainment, family-friendly activities, and booths with other local businesses and community organizations.

Why Was it Rescheduled?

The 2026 Freedom FEASTival was originally scheduled for Thursday, July 11th, but the threat of severe weather caused it to be called off. The Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival made the announcement on Facebook on July 10th, writing:

"This event is an important fundraiser for our organization, and we want to ensure the best possible experience for everyone involved. Rather than canceling the event altogether, we are currently working to secure a new date in the coming weeks."

When is the New Date?

The rescheduled Freedom FEASTival is happening this Thursday, August 20th from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Greene Square Park. That's the park located right in front of the Cedar Rapids Downtown Public Library.

What Food Trucks Will Be There?

What Else is There to Do?

As far as entertainment goes, there will be several acts performing on stage during the Freedom FEASTival. Here's the schedule:

School of Rock: 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Mira Gibbons (violinist): 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Philip Foster with Guitars for Vets: 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Isaac Scott (country singer): 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
