Two weeks ago, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds announced that retail stores would be allowed to reopen across the state on May 15th. With only a couple days' notice, many businesses did not open up right away. That includes many HomeGoods and TJ Maxx stores. I only know this, because those were the first stores that I checked on the weekend of May 15th. I even drove by that Sunday to see if there were any cars in the parking lot. No luck. But, things have changed. Over the course of the last week or so, Corridor stores have reopened for business!

Yesterday, I found out that TJ Maxx recently opened, when a coworker informed me that he had stopped in to do a little shopping over the holiday weekend. The website no longer lists that the store at 321 Collins Road NE is "temporarily closed," but open with some new hours. It is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. An employee on the phone told me that they officially opened last Thursday. It appears the Coralville store is operating under those same hours. My coworker informed me that the Cedar Rapids store had a person at the door counting how many customers were entering the store, as well as directional arrows to help aid social distancing.

I knew if TJ Maxx was open that HomeGoods would likely be open, too, since they're owned by the same company. The website says the Cedar Rapids store's new hours are also Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. I called the store's phone number and the automatic message confirmed this. The Coralville store's automatic message said they have reopened under those new hours, too.

I am a huge fan of TJ Maxx and HomeGoods, so I figured I'd share the good news with any other avid shoppers who may not be aware of their reopenings! WCVB reports that the company hopes to open most of its still-closed stores by the end of June.
