A fun summer event over in Solon will officially be happening in 2021! According to Facebook, Solon Beef Days will be back this July for two days of food, music, a carnival, and more.

The announcement came last month from the Solon Beef Days Facebook page, where they revealed that this year will be the 50th anniversary of the event and that it will take place July 16th and 17th. It's been an important staple in the community since 1971, and it offers more than just fun for Eastern Iowans. The website reads:

"An important aspect of the Solon Beef Days Celebration is its role as a fund-raiser for local non-profit groups. Many service groups depend on Solon Beef Days as their largest fund-raiser of the year. In addition, profits from the Celebration are funneled back into the community and surrounding area as donations, large and small..."

The tentative schedule for this summer's event is posted on the Solon Beef Day website, but things could change as the event gets closer. The famous Ribeye Steak Dinners are set for 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and the beer tent will be open Friday from 4 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. Sam’s Amusements will provide rides for the carnival both days, plus there will be a parade and all sorts of fun activities at the Kid's Korner.
