See Brain’s Hilarious Meet And Greet Encounter With Chris Young

Part of the job when you're in radio is going to concerts. Nothing beats a sold-out crowd on a Saturday night! We saw that this past weekend as Chris Young, Kane Brown, and LANCO entertained us at the U.S. Cellular Center. Typically at country shows, we'll also get to go backstage and see some of the artists. I'm talking about the event known as the 'meet and greet'.

Meet and greets come in many different shapes and sizes. Some are huge like the Blake Shelton VIP Experience, others are more intimate with a chance to shake hands and talk with the artist. I enjoy doing both, but if I've never met the artist before, I prefer the face to face variety. I'd never met Chris Young before, so I was looking forward to meeting him for the first time. We lined up with all the other fans ready to catch a glimpse of their favorite star when a thought crossed my mind. Was there something I could do to make this a photo to remember? What could I get away with? Was Chris Young in the mood to fool around before the show? I decided to risk it.

When it was my turn to get my photo with Chris, I walked up and introduced myself and told him I did the morning show for the country station in town. I then asked him the following question, "For our photo, could you please hold me like a woman?". He was stunned. He stopped the meet and greet and told everyone else what I'd asked. He said he'd never been asked that before. That made the first photo we took a bit awkward to say the least!

I laughed and thanked him for the picture, thinking to myself at least I got a goofy picture with Chris Young. But proving that country stars do indeed have a sense of humor, he told me to wait, we'd take one more. Then, Chris Young held out his arms and waited for my embrace. It was everything I hoped it would be.

I thanked him again for being such a great sport and was on my way. What a guy! Would this work at every meet and greet? Clearly, no. But the next time you get to meet one of your favorite country stars, take a chance. You never know...they might just say YES!
