A pilot and passenger are counting their lucky stars today after the plane they were piloting had to make an emergency landing in a rural area of Linn County.

Officials say that the single-engine plane was forced to make an emergency landing at around 2:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Linn County Sheriff's officials say they received calls of a plane that had gone down. The location given was near Martin Creek Road about one mile east of Highway 13. Reports also stated that no one was injured in the incident.

Authorities went and searched near the area given but were unable to locate the plane. Sheriff's officials then deployed a drone to look over the area and it was then that the plane was discovered in a nearby cornfield.

Officials say the plane was flown out of the Marion Airport. It was piloted by Bonnie Roth and her passenger was a student pilot, Steph Draher. Neither were injured during the incident. The Linn County Sheriff's office and the Federal Aviation Administration continue to investigate.
