98 counties across the state on Wednesday are involved in a 'High Wind Warning' from the National Weather Service as gusts could exceed 70 MPH, or even higher in possible severe thunderstorms.

The lone county that is still in a 'High Wind Advisory' is Lee County in the extreme southeastern corner of the state. Lee County is 'only' expecting wind gusts of 55 MPH on Wednesday.

For all other areas in the state that are a part of the High Wind Warning:

From the National Weather Service in Des Moines: 

HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 3 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 3 AM CST THURSDAY
* WHAT...South to southwest winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts of 60 to 70 mph possible. Winds will become more westerly later this evening.
* WHERE...Much of Iowa.
* WHEN...From 3 PM Wednesday to 3 AM CST Thursday.
* IMPACTS...Damaging winds may blow down trees and power lines. Power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. Fires may spread quickly, with blowing dust possible as well.

The NWS adds that you should avoid being outside in forested areas and around trees and branches. If possible, remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Use caution if you must drive.
