Nothing gets people talking in Iowa like the weather. And nothing will get attention like the threat of a snowstorm during a major travel holiday like Thanksgiving. But we're here to tell you to take a deep breath and not to believe everything you read on social media.

Social Media Post Claims Snow Storm is Coming

By now, you've probably seen the post shared thousands of times on Facebook. I'm not going to show it here, as the whole point is to tell you it simply isn't true. I've seen several friends in my news feed share it, simply believing that if someone posts weather information online, it must be true! But as with everything these days, you have to consider the source.

What is the Real Forecast for Thanksgiving in Iowa?

First of all, Thanksgiving is more than one week away. Weather patterns can change. But right now, there is no snowstorm forecast for Iowa next week. Rain? Yes. Colder weather? Yes, just look at the high Thanksgiving day!

So don't blindly share information that sounds too good to be true. Check with a reliable weather source, or heck, even Google it! It's sad in the day and age of AI and misinformation that we can't even trust someone talking about the weather.

And if you're sad we won't be getting slammed with a winter storm next week, just wait. You're snow days will be here before you know it!
