Three months ago, Collins Aerospace laid off 160 workers from its Cedar Rapids location. The company has confirmed that more layoffs are coming soon.

The Corridor Business Journal reports that Collins Aerospace has confirmed that it has laid off 131 employees from its operations in Cedar Rapids and Decorah. A spokesperson for the company wrote the CBJ, saying that the layoffs would help in "optimizing our organizational structure where needed." The statement also noted the company was working with employees during this difficult transition.


According to the WARN, Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification, website, the layoffs will affect 102 employees at the Cedar Rapids location and 29 at the Decorah location. The CBJ reports that workers were notified on June 12, and the layoffs will be effective July 18th.

The CBJ reports that Collins Aerospace employs nearly 9,000 people in the state of Iowa. The majority are in Cedar Rapids, home to its Missile Systems and Avionics Division. Since September 2020, the company has laid off an estimated 248 employees across the state.
