Miranda Lambert wants you to know her CMA support for Carrie Underwood isn't just a woman supporting a woman because she's a woman kind of thing. Talking to Taste of Country Nights, the "It All Comes Out In the Wash" singer insists Underwood absolutely defines what the Entertainer of the Year award is all about.

Lambert gets a little choked up in the video above as she expands on her comments about Underwood, originally made on Instagram on Oct. 7.

"It wasn't about being a woman, I’m not raising that flag," Lambert says. "It was about if you think of what Entertainer of the Year encompasses for the year and how you represented country music in the public eye."

The Texan goes on to list things like Underwood's massive tour (labeled as a rock 'n' roll tour), two kids, Sunday Night Football and her clothing brand as among the many ways her fellow country star brings positivity to the genre.

"Plus she never misses a note ever, and I’m like, she’s my Entertainer of the Year this year and people need to pay attention to what the Entertainer of the Year means," Lambert says. "It’s all the things. It’s not just ticket sales or your stage show. It’s all of it."

Underwood did respond to Lambert's message on social media.

On Nov. 13, the "Drinking Alone" singer is up against Garth Brooks, Eric Church, Keith Urban and Chris Stapleton for Entertainer of the Year — an honor given to just six solo women historically (plus the Dixie Chicks). The last woman to win the CMA Entertainer of the Year was Taylor Swift in 2013.

Lambert visited Taste of Country Nights to talk about her new Wildcard album, her seventh studio project. Included on Wildcard is "Way Too Pretty for Prison," a duet with Maren Morris.
