Meet The Girl From The NFL Super Bowl Commercial [VIDEO]
The consensus best commercial from last weekend's Super Bowl was a commercial produced by the NFL. The nearly two-minute spot featured players from both the past and current NFL stars. An impromptu pick-up football game begins when a football falls of the celebratory cake. Nice job Marshawn Lynch!
I can't tell you how many times I've watched this commercial. It's fun to try and pick out all the players that are featured! I'm sure I still haven't seen everyone yet. But there is one person who a lot of people are confused about. Near the end of the spot, a young girl holds the ball before Richard Sherman asks for it back. She spins and tosses it to Saquan Barkley of the New York Giants. Who is the girl? Why is she in the commercial?
It turns out she has a pretty cool story herself. Her name is Sam Gordon and she is responsible for starting an all-girl tackle football league in her home state of Utah. Participation early on was only enough for a couple of teams. Now, more than 400 girls play football. It turns out that Sam was a natural at the game and even beat up on the boys early on. Her love for the game and getting girls involved got her a spot in the Super Bowl commercial.
As a father of two daughters, I always want them to have the same opportunities to play sports as my son Chase does. If that means one of them wants to play football, then she should have the chance to do it! Sam Gordon proves that girls can play football and that they WANT to be a part of the game.
