Huge Home For Sale in Marion Was Built in Three Different Centuries [PHOTOS]
A gigantic Marion home that's currently for sale has a history of growth that dates to three different centuries.
When you drive by this home in Marion you'll likely notice the sprawling yard and a big, modern-looking home. It's so much more than meets the eye.
Let's start with the space. There's a ton. It's a home that has six bedrooms and five full bathrooms. There is more than 8,000 square feet of living space, with geothermal heating, and it sits on a nearly 3-acre wooded lot near Gardner Golf Course.
This home has an amazing history. Beth Mackey is the listing agent for Coldwell Banker Hedges Realty. She told me this morning that the original home at the site, that's still part of the home today, was built in 1839. That's an eye-popping 183 years ago. Mackey says the original home was a mail stop for stagecoaches. And those tiles in the brick wall in the photo at the top of this story were imported and installed with the bricks all those years ago.
Mackey reports a 2-story brick addition was added to the home in 1900 with additional construction, that gave it its modern look of today, happening in 2010. As you'll see in the photos below, the owners were careful to keep those beautiful brick walls visible in many areas of this gigantic home. As the listing says, "The original brick home has been built around to create a unique, stunning, majestic home... History combines with all the modern amenities."
Take a look around this home that has a lot of history to tell. It's located at 1700 Banner Drive in Marion. The asking price is $1.895 million.
