When I was growing up in the 90s, the Scholastic Book Fair was a BIG DEAL. The memories of going to the school library as a class to look through all those shiny, colorful, new books is burned into my brain forever... even though I was one of the kids whose parents didn't give them any money to spend. Luckily, I'm an adult now, so I can buy as many new books as I want (the problem is actually READING them).

The Marion Public Library is trying to recapture the magic of childhood book fairs with an event coming up in May... a book fair for ADULTS!

Event Details

The Marion Library's Grown-Up Book Fair is coming up on Saturday, May 2nd from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and will feature independent book stores and other local businesses offering "books, nostalgic goodies, and treats." The list of vendors includes:

The Grown-Up Book Fair is free to attend, but 10% percent of all sales at the event will be donated back to the library. For the latest updates, you can follow the event page on Facebook HERE.

The 2024 Event

This year's event will actually be the second of its kind at the Marion Public Library. They hosted the first 'Adult Book Fair' back in September of 2024, and it was a HUGE success. It was held on a Friday night and was limited to ages 21+, and more than 700 people showed up! Not bad for a first time event! We will have to wait and see how the 2026 event compares to the first one, but it's already gained a ton of attention on Facebook. There are currently more than 1,900 people that have replied "interested" on the event page! You can check that out HERE.
