Marco’s Grilled Cheese is Opening a Restaurant
Anybody who has ever spent some time at the Ped Mall in Iowa City has most likely experienced the glory that is a Marco's grilled cheese. If you love it as much as I do, I have some great news for you! The popular food stand made a big announcement on Facebook today. They will be opening up a new restaurant!
Marco's Grilled Cheese has been in the food cart business for 19 years, but this is the first time they'll be located in an actual building. The post reads:
"On November 1, Marco's Grilled Cheese will open its first brick and mortar restaurant at 117 N. Linn Street in Iowa City's historic Northside neighborhood. The new restaurant location will offer the full food cart menu available in the Ped Mall, along with an expanded menu of popular street food items. Marco's Grilled Cheese on Linn Street will offer counter service for dine-in and carry-out customers."
Hours for the new location will be Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.
I'm a big fan of Marco's! Almost every single time I've gone out in Iowa City, I've stopped for a late-night grilled cheese. One time we ordered a quesadilla INSIDE a grilled cheese and it was MAGNIFICENT! I have no doubt that the restaurant will do well, considering how long the food cart lines are on Saturday nights! :)
