Can You Beat the Record? Iowa Restaurant Offers $25,000 If You Can

It's time to put your money where your mouth is! An impressive Iowa eating challenge will be paying out $25,000 this month to celebrate March Madness!

The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that Jethro's BBQ, which has seven Iowa locations including one in Coralville, is offering $25,000 to the person who can finish one of their famous sandwiches fast enough. That is more than double the last offer of $10,000. The sandwich is known as the Adam Emmenecker Sandwich.

What is on it? The Gazette reports that the giant sandwich weighs in at four pounds and includes pork tenderloin, an Angus steakburger, Texas brisket, bacon, fried cheese, buffalo chicken tenders, and cheese sauce, all served with a pound of waffle fries. Contact your cardiologist immediately. The sandwich is named after former Drake star and Larry Bird Trophy winner Adam Emmenecker.

Now of course anyone can walk into a Jethro's BBQ location and try this food challenge for themselves. If you finish, you get the $35 meal for free and a photo on the Wall of Fame. But to get the $25,000 prize you have to finish the sandwich in record time. World record time. Try three minutes and one second! The Gazette reports that the record was set by the mother of four Molly Schyler. Good golly Miss Molly!
