A Cedar Rapids man is on his way to jail after leading police on a chase Wednesday morning.

According to a media release from the Cedar Rapids Police Department, a 911 call came in at 9:26 a.m. this morning reporting that a 41-year woman was being held against her will at Inn Circle in Southwest Cedar Rapids.

While officers were being dispatched to the scene, police were informed the woman, and the man who was allegedly holding her, were traveling north on 6th St. S.W. in a black Nissan Altima. The woman was said to be driving, while being held at gunpoint.

When police arrived, the female victim was able to jump from the vehicle around 6th Street S.W. and Hawkeye Downs Road. Police say the man then began to drive down Hawkeye Downs Road in the direction of J Street SW.

At around 9:31 a.m., officers began pursuit of the suspect. Approximately eight minutes later, the vehicle being pursued flipped and came to rest against a tree near Haven Court and Wilson Ave. SW. Officers then arrested 33-year-old Joshua J. Bradshaw. They also recovered a handgun.
