The man accused of killing a former standout Iowa State University golfer has requested that his trial be moved to a different location. Online court filings show that Collin Richards requested a change of venue on Monday. A hearing on a potential move has now been scheduled for May 6th.

Richards is accused of killing Celia Barquin Arozamena on September 17, 2018. She was found in a pound suffering from multiple stab wounds. Other golfers on the golf course noticed her abandoned golf bag and called the police.

Just last month, Richards wrote a letter to the judge in the case and said that he wanted to plead guilty in the death of Arozamena. But the latest court filings would indicate that Richards now intends to go through with the trial, which is scheduled to begin on September 10th.

Richards has pleaded not guilty to a charge of first-degree murder.
