Lowe Park has apparently become the chosen venue for live music in uptown Marion this summer, as a pair of annual concert series are welcoming back fans safely this year. The Uptown Marion District and Chamber of Commerce recently announced that Uptown Getdown will take place Thursday nights in August.

Before that, the summer kicks off with "Marion by Moonlight". These concerts were held virtually in 2020, but the in-person lineup is ready to jam Thursdays at 6 p.m. in June. Here's who will be taking the stage:

  • Thursday, June 3rd: Strays
  • Thursday, June 10th: Boot Jack Band
  • Thursday, June 17th: The Mixtape
  • Thursday, June 24th: Lonesome Road

These three-hour shows are free, as always, thanks to Farmers State Bank. More space at Lowe Park, located at 4500 10th St. is intended to make it easier to socially distance, so "bring your lawn chairs and blankets" and enjoy free music, with food available from Artisan Pizza, Carlos O’Kelly’s, One More Bite, and Moo Moo’s Ice Cream. It's Marion by Moonlight's "silver anniversary", celebrating 25 years of bringing fun and entertainment to Marion, Cedar Rapids, and the surrounding areas.
