The next couple of days could be a little crazy around here. The Cedar River is projected to crest at more then 25 feet. If it does, there will be problems.

The Corridor needs our help. Even if it's just for a few hours, every little bit will help. I understand we all have busy schedules, but our community needs help.

There are many needs in Cedar Rapids and the surrounding areas. Sandbagging, moving items to higher ground, finding shelter, pet safety and much more.

The United Way of East Central Iowa is coordinating volunteers. Please visit www.uweci.org for updates and information. You can also dial 211 on your phone to be connected to them directly.

We went through this back in 2008 and it was an absolute nightmare. This time around, we have a little more advance notice. Let's use this time wisely and do our best to help those in need.

I hope this is all for nothing. I pray the water will subside and we can go back to business as usual next week. Until then, we have to prepare for the worst. That's why we all need to work together.

When it's all over, let's meet downtown for an ice cold beer. I have a feeling we're all going to need one.
