Josh Jackson Hopes To Improve Draft Status After Iowa Pro Day
Iowa Football held it's pro day yesterday for NFL scouts. 16 former players worked out in front of over 30 scouts and coaches among 31 NFL teams. The day is a chance for those players to improve on their numbers put up at the NFL combine. A better time or rep number could increase your draft stock. No player had more to gain than former CB Josh Jackson.
Jackson ran a 4.56 40 at the combine. Not awful, but scouts were hoping he'd run somewhere in the 4.40's. Jackson ran the 40 twice yesterday. His fastest posted time was 4.52. Will that number be fast enough to ease concerns? We'll see come draft day. Jackson did improve his vertical jump by 2 inches. He also came into the Iowa pro day lighter. Jackson weighed 196 lbs at the combine, but just 188 yesterday.
Another player who helped his draft stock Monday was linebacker Josey Jewell. Jewell ran a sluggish 4.82 40 at the combine. Yesterday he improved that time to 4.68. He also boosted his numbers in both the bench press and his shuttle times. That could move Jewell from a late round afterthought to a mid-round steal for an NFL team.
