Davenport Shuts Out New Jersey, Advances in World Series

A Little League baseball team from Davenport, Iowa, has advanced to the next round of the Little League World Series.

It was another win on Sunday for Davenport Northwest. The Little League team from Iowa defeated Bayonne, New Jersey, 6-0, according to the Des Moines Register. And just like in their first game, it was another dominant pitching performance for Davenport. Anthony Johnson Jr. struck out 15 batters on the mound and hit a three-run home run at the plate in the Iowa win.

Second Straight Dominating Pitching Performance

The Register reports that this is the second straight dominating pitching performance by Davenport in the Little League World Series. On Friday, Iowa defeated California 1-0 thanks to Cooper Thissen's 15-strikeout effort. Thissen also homered for the game's only run!

When Does the Iowa Team Play Next?

According to the Register, Davenport will play the Mountain Region champion from Nevada on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Both teams are 2-0 in the tournament. The game will be televised on ESPN.
