Jones County Man Will Retire In Style Thanks To Lottery Win
A corrections officer from Jones County, Iowa can breathe a bit easier thanks to a big lottery prize from the Iowa Lottery.
60-year-old Michael Bechthold of Monticello told Iowa Lottery officials that he hadn't slept all weekend. You probably wouldn't either if you had just won a jackpot worth nearly $114,000. Bechthold's official winnings from the lottery were $113,913 in the JACKPOT PARTY Progressive InstaPlay game. The jackpot starts at $10,000 and goes up every time a ticket is sold in the state of Iowa. The jackpot rises until someone hits it!
Bechthold told lottery officials that the night before he hit the jackpot, he spoke to a friend who was also playing the game. The two talked about how no one had hit the jackpot prize, and Friday night, Bechthold's life changed with his lottery win! Whenever you hear of someone winning a big lottery prize, you hope that it can help them in some way. Bechthold told the Iowa Lottery that the money will provide him with a sense of relief as he nears retirement from the State Penitentiary in Anamosa.
It’s going to help me get caught up and get ahead. I’m retiring in 16 months from the penitentiary in Anamosa and it’s going to make me debt-free other than the house payment. The weight that’s been lifted, it’s incredible.
That is what a big jackpot win is supposed to do. Give you peace of mind about the future. Congratulations again to Michael Bechthold of Monticello on your big lottery win and cruising into retirement in style!
