While I know they are out there, I find it hard to believe that there are people who don't like tacos, since they can be made in a variety of ways with ingredients that you choose.

You can choose all kinds of meat, or no meat whatsoever, and then pile on whatever you want from there. I love to add guacamole when I can, and then go hot with jalapenos and hot sauce. Okay, I'm getting hungry.

Many find tacos hard to resist. Experts report that of all Mexican dishes, tacos have become so popular in America that they rival the hamburger as one of the country's most popular and eaten foods.

To me, tacos are a lot like pizza in that even if you get a bad one, chances are it's still pretty good so I think we should all be open to trying new restaurants. However, if you're in Wisconsin and want to go to the place that serves the best tacos in the state, there is one restaurant you have to visit.

How To Determine Where To Find The Best Tacos

According to Yelp, Americans eat billions of tacos every year, so who needs Taco Tuesday when it now seems that every day of the week is Taco Day? They also note that based on consumer searches in Yelp, the demand is growing.

They decided to use their data to determine the best spot for tacos in every state. To do this, they identified businesses in the taco category with a large concentration of reviews mentioning relevant keywords and then ranked those spots using several factors, including the total volume and ratings of reviews mentioning those keywords between January 1, 2019, and July 1, 2024.

It's worth noting that if a business with multiple locations appeared on their list more than once, they only included the highest-rated location.

The businesses were all marked as open on Yelp as of July 18, 2024, and, when available, businesses on this list had a passing health score as of July 18, 2024.

The Best Tacos In Wisconsin

According to their data, the best tacos in the state of Wisconsin can be found at Lazo's Taco Shack, located at 641 North James Lovell Street in Milwaukee. The restaurant is run by Jose Lazo and his family.

Lazo's Taco Shack has an extensive menu that includes drinks, a salsa bar, and breakfast and brunch items like Tacos De Huevos Con Chorizo. For lunch and dinner, there is the extremely popular Taco Dinner along with other favorites like the Carne Asada A La Tampiquena and the Fiesta Combination Fajitas.

However, when you go you must try their signature tacos: Birria with Consomè. Birria tacos are a traditional Mexican dish of meat stewed in a braising liquid and served in corn tortillas.

Lazo's Taco Shack says its Birria with Consomè features 'four marinated shredded beef tacos, melted cheese, topped with cilantro & onion, served with consomè.' According to Jose Lazo, Chef Nely Silva, who hails from Oaxaca, uses a secret recipe to get the “fantastic” signature flavor.

One reviewer called the dish "the BEST, most flavorful birria tacos in Milwaukee.” Another reviewer said the Birria tacos did not disappoint, adding "The meat was tender, juicy, and had soul in it and, paired with the consomé, it was phenomenal. All in all, the food hit the spot."
