The state of Iowa has some incredible sunrises and sunsets, but there's one place to view them that might be better than all the others!

A new article from Love Exploring lists the best place to view a sunrise in all 50 states, and the pick for the Hawkeye State is located in Eastern Iowa... Pikes Peak State Park! The article reads:

"Located in the state’s Driftless region, characterized by vertiginous valleys and steep hills, Pikes Peak State Park is located on a bluff high above where the Wisconsin River meets the Mississippi. At sunrise, the great ball of fire hovers above the water and peeps between the trees, imbuing the valley with a warm glow."

Pikes Peak State Park is located in McGregor, Iowa and spans across 964 acres. According to the park's website, its is best known for its "majestic bluffs that rise over 500 feet above the rivers below." For the best views, guests often visit the Point Ann Overlook, which is said to be one of the most picturesque spots in the entire state!

A couple of other popular features of Pikes Peak State Park include Bridal Veil Falls and Bear Mound, which is an effigy built by Native Americans. There are around 11 miles of trails for hiking, and lots of campgrounds available, too! The Iowa DNR mentions that "fossil remains can also be found along the trails including brachiopods, gastropods and cephalopods."
