The Iowa State women's basketball team is going through a roster overhaul. What better way to add to that roster than by bringing in a National Champion!

The Des Moines Register reports that Iowa State has landed LSU transfer Alisa Williams. The 6-foot 2-inch guard played in 20 games for the Tigers last season, mainly off the bench. That talented Tiger roster went on to beat the Iowa Hawkeyes for the National Championship in April. Williams was no doubt looking for more playing time and she'll get it in Ames.

The Tigers have a loaded team looking to repeat in 2023-2024, including star Angel Reese. They also added former Louisville star Hailey Van Lith. It's like a super team designed to stop Iowa's Caitlin Clark, who has a history with both Reese and Van Lith, although, in a recent interview, Van Lith said that she has a good relationship with Clark.

The Register reports that the Cyclones are adding five new freshmen and two other transfers this season. Williams will have to wait a bit longer to suit up for Iowa State. She announced that she will be redshirting this season since she entered the transfer portal so late in the process. Either way, Iowa State fans will welcome some championship pedigree to Ames!
