Hailey Van Lith Clears the Air on Caitlin Clark’s ‘You Can’t See Me’ [WATCH]
It was 79 days ago that Iowa met Louisville in the Elite 8. A moment in that game turned out to be just the beginning of what would end up being the talk of the sports world after the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament.
During that Sunday game in Seattle, Washington, two of women's college basketball's best players went head-to-head. Both Caitlin Clark and Hailey Van Lith lit up the scoreboard.
In the game, the pair combined for 68 points. It was Caitlin Clark's day, though. She registered a 30+ point triple-double, the first in the history of the Women's College Basketball Tournament. Clark pumped in 41 points, to go along with 12 assists and 10 rebounds. The highlight reel from that game is a lengthy one.
Early in the contest, with her team in front 8-0, Van Lith pointed at the floor as she headed to the Louisville bench during a timeout. She seemed to be indicating 'This is my court.' Obviously, that didn't end up being the case. Iowa won the game 97-83, punching their ticket to the Final Four for the first time in 30 years.
Clark and Van Lith have been friends since playing for USA Basketball during the summer of 2019. They were even roommates. It's no wonder Van Lith couldn't help but laugh when Taylor Rooks asked her about the 'You Can't See Me' moment from the Elite 8 game.
The 2023-24 Iowa women's basketball season is now less than 6 months away. They open the season against another Final 4 team from this past season... the Virginia Tech Hokies. The game will be part of the Ally Tipoff in North Carolina and will be shown on one of the ESPN networks on Thursday, November 9. I can't wait.
