The Iowa Ladies Football Academy Is Coming Back for a Special Cause

You'll find most guys this time of year glued to a TV, watching their favorite college or NFL team play football. But the days of football widows are over. Surveys show that between 42% and 47% of football fans are women! I know my wife loves watching football games. The University of Iowa started an event years ago that celebrated female football fans. The Iowa Ladies Football Academy. The final event was held in 2022, but the University of Iowa is holding a special academy in 2027 for a great cause.

Ladies Football Academy Is Coming Back

CBS2 reports that the University of Iowa Ladies Football Academy will return to Kinnick Stadium on June 12, 2027. This special edition of the academy is called the 'Wave Edition' and will help celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Hawkeye Wave at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital.

What Will Participants Do At The Academy?

Women who participate in next year's academy will once again get instructions from Iowa football players and coaches, according to CBS2. They'll get a tour of the pink visiting locker room and run out in a swarm onto the field at Kinnick to 'Back in Black'. They will also get to take part in a special wave to children and parents at the Stead Family Children's Hospital.

Women interested in the academy can register HERE. Space is limited, so act soon! The cost to attend is $100, and CBS2 reports that each participant must then also raise another $750, with all proceeds going to the NICU at Stead Family Children's Hospital.
