Iowa Grocery Store Giant Hands Out 5,000 Hams to Families in Need
The Iowa-based grocery store giant is bringing back a popular holiday tradition in an effort to help families in need all across the Midwest.
Hy-Vee officials just announced that the company is once again partnering with Hormel Foods as well as local first responders and food pantries to hand out 5,000 hams.
This effort will provide 25,000 meals to those in need. Ten food banks were picked to bring this initiative to families in need across the Midwest. In an official statement from Hy-Vee officials, the hams are set to be handed out to families at a series of giveaway events.
Officials confirmed that they will be having ten of these events across seven states in the Midwest.
“Food insecurity is a very real concern that affects many of our neighbors and customers,” said Hy-Vee’s CEO Jeremy Gosch.
Four of these ten stops will be right here in the Hawkeye State including Waterloo, Davenport, Ottumwa, and Sioux City.
Depending on the location, the hams will be given out via drive-thru or walk-up.
Officials stated that the event will run for the designated time that is mentioned below OR when all of the hams are given out.
