Iowa Drivers are Needed to Test Out a New Driving App
The National Advanced Driving Simulator in Coralville is working with HERE Technologies, the Iowa DOT, and Iowa State University to help make our roadways safer with a new app. The Hazard Alerting Pilot Project is looking for volunteers to help test out this new app, which KCRG reports will, "provide real time road and traffic conditions to help the driver avoid dangerous scenarios." The app is also helping us move forward towards self-driving cars.
If you're interested in participating in the project, there IS compensation! You could make $70 if you complete all the required parts. Before we get to those, here are the qualifications you must meet to be able to participate:
- You must be 18-years or older
- You must have a valid U.S. driver's license
- You must have access to vehicle that is insured
- You must own an Android smartphone
- You must regularly drive on I-380 between the cities of Cedar Rapids and Iowa City or I-80 between West Branch and Williamsburg
If you meet these qualifications, you will be required to download the app to your phone and simply keep it open while you drive. You will also have to complete two surveys on your experience. The study lasts for five weeks.
