[UPDATED] Iowa DCI Involved in Search Today, Related to Xavior Harrelson
Xavier Harrelson of Montezuma has been missing since late May, but there has been a lot of activity in Poweshiek County today.
[UPDATE September 9, 4 PM] KWWL reports today's search has been wrapped up. There's no word if it will continue tomorrow.
[ORIGINAL STORY] The 11-year-old went missing on May 27 and more than three months after his disappearance and searches of all sizes, there is a lot of law enforcement activity today near the Fox Forest Recreation Area. The Poweshiek County website for the area, also known as Fox Forest Wildlife Area, says it covers 531 acres. It's located in rural Poweshiek County. See map below.
KWWL reports that the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation, Iowa State Patrol, and Poweshiek County Sheriff's Office are all searching the Fox Forest Recreation Area. Assistant Director of the Iowa DCI, Mitch Mortvedt, has confirmed the search but released no other details. Search dogs are involved.
Harrelson disappeared from Montezuma after last being seen late on the morning of Thursday, May 27. He turned 11 just days after he disappeared.
