Of all the places you would think would be safe from a bomb threat, daycare centers would be near the top of my list. But two daycares in Iowa had to be evacuated on Monday due to bomb threats.

The Des Moines Register reports that a news release from the Clive Police Department confirms that the staff at Cadence Academy, a preschool and daycare that cares for children from 6 weeks to 5 years old, called at around 3:40 p.m. to report an email claiming there was a bomb on the premises. The Register reports that staff and students were evacuated from the location. Police and fire officials from Clive searched the building but no threats were found.

According to the Register, the same email that threatened Cadence Academy also stated that KinderCare, another daycare located in Clive, was also threatened. KinderCare was also evacuated and searched. Once again, no threats were found.

Parents and children were reunited last night, according to the Register. Both daycare centers are expected to be open as normal today. A press release states that Clive police are working with federal officials to investigate the incident. Clive police also took the opportunity to remind parents and guardians to keep contact information updated for easy communication in situations such as this.
