
Iowa City Police Involved in Early-Morning Shooting

Two officers with the Iowa City Police Department were involved in a shooting in the city early this morning. According to a media release from the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation, officers from the Iowa City P.D. responded to a burglary alarm at 538 Olympic Court (see google maps image below) at about 2:27 this morning.
During the incident at the address, two Iowa City Police Officers fired their guns and one person was hit by at least one bullet. That unnamed person is hospitalized and neither of the officers was injured.
According to their website, The Second Act is the business that occupies the building at 538 Olympic Court. Their website says they're "Iowa City's longest operating consignment store."
The names of the officers involved have not been released and the Iowa DCI is investigating the case. The Gazette says this is the first officer-involved shooting in Iowa City since 2011.
