[UPDATED] Iowa City Police Call Death of UIHC Employee a Homicide
[UPDATE Wednesday, April 10 4:20 pm] Iowa City police have announced the Johnson County Medical Examiner's Office has determined that JoEllen Browning of 114 Green Mountain Drive died as "the result of sharp force injuries."
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and Iowa City Police Department have between 15 and 20 investigators on the case, who continue to review tips and information from members of the community. Processing of the crime scene itself is complete.

[ORIGINAL STORY] Authorities in Iowa City now call what was originally considered a suspicious death, a homicide.
According to a Friday media release from the Iowa City Police Department, emergency crews responded to the report of an unresponsive female at a home at 114 Green Mountain Drive at 6:59 am Friday. When they arrived at the scene a deceased female was found inside the home. The woman has been identified as 65-year-old JoEllen Browning, who lived at that address, according to the Iowa City Assessor's Office website. Browing's LinkedIn profile says she had been the Director of Budgeting for the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (UIHC) for 42 years.
A late-afternoon Sunday media release from Iowa City police says that "based on initial information, including preliminary autopsy results, the incident is now being investigated as a homicide."
Browning's death continues to be investigated by the Iowa D.C.I. (Division of Criminal Investigations) and the Iowa City Police Department.
