Apparently I'm using the washing machine a LOT more than the average person.

Buzzfeed recently conducted a survey titled, "How Long Do You Go Without Washing These Items Compared To Everyone Else?" I was kind of shocked by some of the results, but I'll explain why in a minute. Here are the findings:

  • Jeans
    • 44% of people wash them at least once a week
    • 28% wash them at least once a month
    • 18% won't wash them until they get a stain on them
    • 10% wash them after every use
  • Towels
    • 42% wash them at the end of the week
    • 33% wash them after 3 or 4 uses
    • 15% keep using a new towel until all the towels are dirty, and then they wash them at once
    • 10% wash them after every use
  • Sheets
    • 35% wash them once a month
    • 29% wash them every 2 weeks
    • 21% only wash them when they get a stain or when they feel "so physically repulsed" by their laziness that they have to change them
    • 15% wash them once a week
  • Bras
    • 32% on wash their bra if it smells weird
    • 30% wait 2 weeks to wash them
    • 27% wash them at least once a week
    • 5% wash them after each wear
  • Socks
    • 79% wash their socks after one wear
    • 16% wash them after 2 or 3 wears
    • 3% wear the same pair for a week
    • 2% only wash them when they start to smell

When it comes to jeans, shirts, underwear, socks, and pretty much everything else that goes directly onto my body (aside from bras), I wash them everyday. Same with towels. I was actually made fun of by my friends the other day for washing my towels after every use! I don't know why I do it, I guess I just like to feel extra clean when I get out of the shower. My sheets are a WHOLE different story, though. I usually wait until they either look or smell dirty before I go through the hassle of washing them. I know, I know, I'm gross. I'll get over it.
