Two Eastern Iowa high school students are facing charges after incidents at their respective schools.

A 16-year-old student is facing charges after being found with a gun at Cedar Rapids Washington High School. Cedar Rapids Police say that the student was arrested on a warrant at the school. During a search, a gun was found to be in his possession. Officials say that there was no threat made and that there was no indication the teen was planning something at the school. He was charged with carrying a weapon at school. Because the student is a minor, no other information is being released at this time.

Meanwhile, police in Waterloo say that a 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with threats made against two Waterloo schools. Police say the threat was made over social media. Concerned students contacted law enforcement. Officials say the threat was sent out on Snapchat and involved threats to the Expo Alternative Learning Center and Waterloo West High School. Classes on Wednesday at those schools, along with Waterloo East High School, were canceled.

The teen is facing felony charges of making threats of terrorism and is being held in a juvenile detention facility.
