Four Guns Seized, Three Arrested During Waterloo Traffic Stop
A weekend traffic stop in Waterloo resulted in the seizure of four handguns and three arrests.
According to a press release, police stopped a vehicle for a moving violation near West 5th Street and Grant Avenue on Sunday. During the traffic stop, officers observed a handgun in plain view and detained the four occupants in the vehicle.
Authorities said three additional handguns were found and seized during a subsequent search of the vehicle. One of the firearms was reported stolen during a 1989 burglary in Oelwein.
Police took three of the four occupants into custody. Arrested were:
- Quintorey Kemp, 22, of Waterloo – charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, carrying weapons, and second-offense possession of a controlled substance
- Avion Bennett, 21, of Waterloo – charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and carrying weapons
- Kristian Gibson, 20, of Waterloo – charged with two counts of carrying weapons and fourth-degree possession of stolen property/theft
Kemp, Bennett, and Gibson were all booked into the Black Hawk County Jail.
