A former Iowa State football player has been sentenced for assaulting former University of Iowa basketball star Jordan Bohannon.

The Des Moines Register reports that 31-year-old Nicholas Kron was charged in the May 2021 assault of Iowa guard Jordan Bohannon. He plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge of assault causing serious injury back in March. The Register reports that court filings show the assault took place after closing time outside of an Iowa City bar. Bohannon and another person were arguing. The Register reports that Kron is seen on video approaching Bohannon, turning him around, and punching him three times in the head. Bohannon was knocked to the ground.

Court records show that the judge in the case granted Kron a deferred judgment in the case, according to the Register. He'll have to complete one year of probation, pay a $430 civil penalty, and complete 100 hours of community service. If Kron completes the requirements, the Register reports that the public record of his conviction will be expunged.

The Register reports that Bohannon has also filed a civil suit against Kron. It accuses him of "brutally, unlawfully, and intentionally" assaulting him. The case was originally dismissed because Bohannon wasn't able to locate Kron to have him served. But the Register reports that court records show that the suit was refiled in May. Bohannon suffered a head injury as a result of the attack. He recovered and returned to play his final year with Iowa in 2021-2022. He is the Hawkeye record holder in career threes made, games played, assists, and career free throw percentage.
