Trades in the NBA are nothing new. Most players will tell you that the game is a business. But normally, NBA trades aren't completed during a game. That is what happened to former Ames, Iowa prep Harrison Barnes on Wednesday night.

Barnes was traded from the Dallas Mavericks to the Sacramento Kings in a multiplayer deal. The official announcement of the trade came after Dallas' game against Charlotte. But word got out about the deal before the game was even over. Barnes sat on the bench during the 4th quarter, wanting to remain with his soon to be ex-teammates for their final game together.

Barnes' agent had told him that there was a potential deal in the works with Sacramento. The deal just happened to come together while Barnes was suited up for the Mavericks. Many Dallas players lauded Barnes for sticking around and playing last night's game. Not many others would have.

Barnes played his college ball at the University of North Carolina. He was selected 7th overall in the 2012 NBA Draft by the Golden State Warriors. He won an NBA championship with the team in 2015 before being traded to Dallas that offseason.
