A fight involving 22 inmates at the Anamosa State Penitentiary has caused the building to be put on restricted movement. The incident happened around 7:45 a.m Thursday in the prison's main yard. The altercation lasted only around 73 seconds according to Department of Corrections officials.

Staff members were able to take control of the situation quickly. No prison employees were injured and the inmates involved did not suffer serious injuries. The prison's visiting room will continue to be shut down while the building is under restricted movement.

This is the second violate attack at the prison in Anamosa this spring. On April 1st, an inmate assaulted an officer by striking him with his head and then biting his arm. The officer was examined and completed his shift. However, he later experienced concussion-like symptoms and was taken to the ER at Jones Regional Medical Center. He was diagnosed with a concussion.
