Did You Know Iowa is Home to a Cat Cafe With Adoptable Kitties?

It's the perfect place to meet your new best friend!

Located at 312 5th Street in West Des Moines is a unique little coffee shop called Coffee Cats. The shop sets itself apart from other cafes in Iowa, because it features a CAT lounge where you can hang out with adorable kitties!

So how does the cat lounge work? All you have to do is make a reservation online and pay $10 (per person) for your one-hour visit. According to the website, "the fee allows us to house and care for the 10-12 cats while they stay with us before they find their furrever home!" That's right, ALL of the kitties are adoptable through the Animal Rescue League of Iowa! There are only eight people allowed in the cat lounge at a time: six reserved customers and two walk-in customers (first come, first served), which is why it's best to reserve your spot ahead of time. Like the name suggests, Coffee Cats is also a coffee shop with coffee, tea, smoothies, Italian sodas, sweet treats, and more. The coffee shop doesn't require a reservation.

Coffee Cats is open Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday & Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Thursday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. In addition to an hour in the cat lounge, Coffee Cats also hosts cat yoga, cat trivia nights, and cat bingo!
