Furloughs and temporary pay cuts have struck Linn County's largest employer, Collins Aerospace. The company says the measures being taken here will impact its workers across the world and are a result of a drop in both business and commercial travel caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. In an online statement, the company says U.S. air travel is down by 96 percent.

Collins Aerospace, which employs around 9,500 people in Linn County, told employees Tuesday morning that they would be putting hourly employees on furloughs. The length of the furloughs will vary.

Salaried employees will receive a 10 percent reduction in pay beginning June 1. The pay cut will continue through the end of the year. Those affected will get 15 additional days off in 2020.
