Starting Monday, July 27 two branches of the Cedar Rapids Public Library are opening, by reservation, to the public for computer use.

They will continue the curbside hold pick-up program the downtown library, 450 5th St. SE, and that location as well as Ladd Library, 3750 Williams Blvd. SW will let customers who need access to computers call (319)261-7323 for an appointment 4 hours in advance.

Additionally, there will be a change to the curbside hold pickup program as it will be appointment-only as well. You can use this website to reserve any material from the library, and that material will be quarantined for 72 hours before patrons are allowed to pick it up. You can reserve your material and pick-up time with the same website. This is being done as a way to shorten wait times for customers and to alleviate backlog on staff, according to Library director Dara Schmidt, speaking to KCRG.

While using your computer reservation time inside the library, all customers will be required to wear masks, as staff will also be doing. Appointment times are limited to one hour per user, per day, and children must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian.

The new norm of six feet of social distancing must also be practiced.

Call (319) 261-READ for more information about computer appointments, reserving material including books, movies, music, and other physical library items for pick-up or any information from the Cedar Rapids Public Library about its status of service.
