Iowans in the corridor will soon lose their second place to buy late-night groceries in just a couple weeks. Hy-Vee has announced that hours will be changing at local stores. Most locations are currently open 24 hours.

Christina Gayman, Hy-Vee Director of Public Relations, tells me,

Effective Monday, February 10, store hours at all Cedar Rapids Hy-Vee grocery stores will be 5 a.m.-midnight, seven days a week. We have changed our hours to reallocate several team members to be available to assist customers during busier shopping times each day.

What does that mean for other Hy-Vee stores? Christina says "hours do vary by store location/market."

Here are other store hours provided by Gayman:

Cedar Falls 5 a.m. to midnight
Coralville 5 a.m. to midnight
Dubuque 5 a.m. to midnight
Iowa City 5 a.m. to midnight
Marion 5 a.m. to midnight
Quad Cities 5 a.m. to midnight
Waterloo 5 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Just two weeks ago, Walmart stores in Cedar Rapids and Marion announced they were going to be closing their stores during overnight hours. Though not confirmed by store managers, numerous employees told me they believed it was due to a large amount of theft from stores during overnight hours.
