The old Collins Road Hy-Vee building continues to sit vacant, just behind Lindale Mall in Cedar Rapids. But the old grocery store will soon be home to something new.

Collins Road Hy-Vee Building Gets a New Tenant

The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that the vacant 63,000 square foot building that used to be a Hy-Vee grocery store will turn into a new fitness center. The VASA Fitness website lists a new location as "coming soon" to the former Hy-Vee building at 279 Collins Road NE. VASA markets itself as a "high value, low price fitness club" with dozens of locations across the nation, according to the Gazette.

What Will VASA Fitness Offer?

The Gazette reports that VASA Fitness plans to offer areas dedicated to cardio, strength training, and performance lifting. It will also feature a sauna, hot tub, and massage chairs. There will be additional space for half-court basketball and a three-lane 25-yard pool. The club will also offer studio classes, according to the Gazette.

When Will VASA Fitness Open in Cedar Rapids?

While the VASA website lists the new Cedar Rapids location as "coming soon", VASA officials told the Gazette that residents can expect local offerings to be made available this fall. Membership pricing has also not been released.
